Kathy and Joseph attended the same school together. When Joseph was in grade 10, Kathy in grade eight, Joseph noticed her in the hallway one day, asked a friend for her number and called Kathy that week. Yet, they didn’t end up as high school sweethearts. After they graduated, Kathy went off to study in Alberta, while Joseph stayed in British Columbia. It wasn’t until Kathy moved home to finish her degree locally that the two reconnected. They’ve been together ever since.
When it was time to celebrate Joseph’s birthday in 2012, the couple decided to get dressed up, go to a fancy restaurant and then take a stroll at one of their favourite places in the city. Walking along the bridge at said location Joseph stopped in the middle of the bridge and began to speak from his heart and proposed. “It was such a beautiful moment,” recalls the bride.
Seeing Joseph for the first time that morning was Kathy’s favourite wedding moment. “Despite the fact that we did the traditional Chinese door games and tea ceremony before I got into my white dress, our version of the “first look” was still my favourite moment,” says Kathy.
As for the couple’s favourite wedding detail? That’s an easy one. “Our cake! We saw and approved the drawing for it beforehand, so we knew what to expect, but seeing all the details in person still amazed us,” says Kathy.
